Lapeer Symphony Orchestra Welcomes New Additions to Leadership

“Another addition to the LSO team is their new concertmaster, Geunyoung Kim. The list of Kim’s achievements is immense; she received the Dankook University Scholarship, where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance. She also received the Michigan State University Scholarship; she went on to earn a Master’s degree from there, as well as a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Violin Performance. Additionally, she received the Romeo Tata Graduate Fellowship and she has also received many awards recognizing her talent, in Seoul, South Korea. One such achievement was the Third Prize at the Premiere Chamber Orchestra National Competition. She has also been awarded the Third Prize at the Guri-si Symphony Orchestra Competition, the Second Prize at the Minerva Orchestra, and the Third Prize at the Korea Festival Chamber Competition. Kim’s experience includes orchestral experience and performances with many esteemed ensembles across the state; she brings her wisdom to the LSO in not only traditional classical music, but in French music from the 20th century as well.”
